8 weeks old

So our Toby turns 8 weeks old tomorrow :) Today also completes our first week with him! He is so dang cute. We struggled at first with having him live inside. His play area wasn't big enough, he whined almost constantly and after just 3 days he figured out how to escape! It was pretty funny. Sometime around 5am Toby was barking and whining when suddenly he was silent. Then we heard him panting in the hall before he ran around the corner into our room! Just as proud as could be :) I put him back, checked all the holes and anywhere i could think of that he could escape and went back to sleep. He escaped again, and again. Finally, i hid around the corner and watched as our amazing dog scaled the wall of his play pen with his paws (and you thought dogs couldn't climb!) and did a front flip over the edge, landing on his back. Thats when we decided he was an "outside dog". He loves it! we have his crate on the deck with all his toys and he never whines, ever! When we come outside he runs to us but never tries to break in the house and we feel safe with him on the deck with the gate closed. We let him roam the back yard when either of us are there with him. We take daily walks, which he loves, although he doesn't quite have the hang of walking in the same direction the whole time. Toby loves digging in the dirt, attacking leaves and playing tug-a-war with my shoe laces. He is tons of fun but lots of work :) He is HUGE! Last week at the vet he weighed 18 lbs. and he's getting bigger! We love him so much!!! He's also learning his name and I'm proud to say i taught him to sit! Toby is the best :)
